Media is everywhere today. Unwittingly, people have made the use of media the basic need of their lives. Therefore, it has come to the point that human life cannot continue without media consumption. People spend almost all of their days on television, mobile devices and online platforms without realizing it. Therefore, the consumed media shapes human life. Media consumption changes people's views, perspectives and understandings. While the media is such an important tool, it should be understood and used more effectively. For more effective use, media contents should be used by people copying and remixing with their own ideas. However, copyright is a serious problem. But fair use law solves the copyright problem to a small extent. Fair use is the use of copyrighted content to a certain extent without permission from the owner. People are adding new ideas and expressions to the media content and producing much newer content than existing content and this is called remix. Today, remix is generally used for humor making, criticism and expression. In my opinion, copyright required. No one wants their own content to be stolen or used without asking that person. But I also support fair use. Although copyright is a necessary need, with fair use as opposed to use for humor and entertainment, people should use it for useful purposes. For example, people should be able to use the media to support their thoughts or any issue they advocate, but the condition of not too unlimitedly.
