I think, according to human psychology, to show yourself and the result of this showing is a great psychological motivation. Since social media is a platform to reach people on the other side of the world, people can show themselves most easily from here. What we call selfies means that people take themselves, they find their best angle, and take their own selfie. If there is any problem with this selfie, with photo editing apps, people fix their selfies, photoshop the flaws in their faces or their bodies if they are visible. I share/we share these selfies so that people can communicate with us or have something about us in their minds. If I'm having self-confidence problems, I'll post selfies on social media from where I'm sitting at home and shape my self-confidence according to people's reactions. Of course, you can do this not voluntarily, but in the way that human psychology directs you. Nice comments or expressions to this selfie will elevate me and refresh my self-confidence. Although I speak for myself, the psychology of all people works this way. I do not think there is a person who uses a smartphone and has never taken a selfie or seen how she/he looks.
