The digitalization of physical material is one of the most remarkable technological achievements of our age. Digital archives are designed to preserve and increase the accessibility of historical material provided by libraries, universities, museums. It is an undeniable fact that historical materials are limited and hard to access for some people. Digital archives made the content more accessible to those who can't afford the time or resources to physical ones. The David Rumsey Map Collection, which provides access to high-resolution images of more than 150,000 historical maps for free, is the perfect example on this subject. Without the help of the David Rumsey Map Collection archive, it would be hard to find people how to access or even know the existence of some rare geography maps, yet thanks to the digital archive one can access maps and atlases in high-resolution.
