DATA-FOCUSED ALGORITHMS

Algorithms are products of human thought. They work by using what we call metadata, which emerges from people's interactions with each other and with the objects around them. Individuals themselves are the original owners of this data. However, especially multinational digital companies receive and use this data with the 'consent' of individuals through the social networks they have created. If we consider the algorithms from a social point of view, as revealed by people like Julian Assange, Edward Snowden and Christopher Wylie who noticed illegal events and reported them to the relevant parties, this data means that we It has been unwittingly shared with third-party companies and has become evaluated in a way that affects our decision-making in almost every area, from our future dress and resort elections to the election of politicians to run the country. Within the scope of the data gaps experienced, laws have started to be made to protect personal data in the world and in our country. However, there is a need for further progress in this regard and for individuals to become more conscious about protecting their data.
