Algorithm & Computerized Culture - Melis Gürsoy (211004049)

An algorithm is a set of general operating instructions designed to solve a particular problem. Algorithms are in every step of our daily life, like face detection in a photo camera, Google search, or even traffic lights. And this algorithm is used for a variety of purposes, such as determining who gets housing or who gets into college. It effects our lives in so many ways. One of the most worrying problems with algorithmic culture is privacy and safety regarding the collection of data. The way of this data collection and data use is against our safety, privacy, and freedom. And also, there are many biases in algorithms, like gender discrimination and manipulation. These biases in algorithms have the potential to ruin people's lives.
