Algorithm & Computerized Culture in today's society -Sena Şevval Özbıyık/180423003

By digitalization, our world’s been integrated with technology and digital technologies’ve become an indispensable element of our lives. Also system’s placed the concept of algorithm at the center of our lives with large data collection and surveillance mechanism that basically designed to reach solution in more practical way and to create data more strategically for politics, health, education and trade system. Since we use internet for each activity;we see algorithms as most via internet too.For example, you may see a product you were searching on your social media and you feel convinced to buy that product. In fact, technology-oriented new capitalism, which’s taken place more in our post-modernist life, unwittingly includes us in consumption and the production cycle In this whole process, algorithms provide the biggest contribution to system. If we consider social and cultural effects of capitalism, algorithms also have a great impact on our lives.Although we see benefits of algorithms in security systems, demand and interest-oriented production, education and health fields, when we look at the place of algorithms in our lives and society, algorithmic culture contains many dangers for us.While we’ve no idea how confidential the collected data’s, we don’t even know where and how this data will appear. The use of data in line with political interests, the strengthening of trade that serves capitalism will directly affect the society. On the other hand, contradiction of being under constant surveillance and control or social modeling for malicious purposes’ll occupy freedom of individual. In this direction, controlling and limiting algorithms is an important element to ensure trust and durability in algorithmic culture.
