Facebook subscribers were surprised by the disappearance of their posts and comments containing vocabulary such as “Jerusalem, Palestine, Israel’s violations, the occupation.” This is likely believed to be algorithms developed by the company to track publications in support of the rights of the Palestinian people. When users discovered the company’s policy of “stalking Palestinian content,” several tricks began to escape the ban or suspend accounts. These include writing words with intermittent letters so that they are difficult to detect them similar to (G A Z A), Bloggers launched a campaign to re-evaluate Facebook’s Google Play and Apple Story app, with which 113 million subscribers interacted. When Facebook found itself under campaign pressure, it created a page and added 76 million subscribers and followers without their knowledge, supporting the Israeli narrative , Palestinian and Arab activists wrote strongly worded messages that what the Facebook administration is doing is repression, the company making an official apology to the State of Palestine, for its failure to take legal and moral responsibility for the right of the Palestinian people to express the persecution to which they are subjected.the important issues at stake in algorithmic culture today is Surveillance and control , Israeli Justice Minister Benny Gantz uses soft power, met with Facebook and TikTok executives, asked them to remove content that incites violence “he means content that supports Palestinians.” Executives expressed their commitment to work quickly and effectively
Indeed! Just like Google did when they removed the name of Palestine from their maps... Most of the digital platforms we use to defend our rights and needs are controlled by capitalist businessmen who only care about increasing their profit. (Nour Zomlot)
