With the advent of the camera, people have been taking pictures for decades. In general, they would take these photos for the memories they wanted to immortalize, what they saw, or for private use. Today, the "selfie" comes up as a new way of taking pictures. It is believed that the first example in history of this photograph, which the person took as a group or himself, was in 1839. The photograph taken by the American Robert Cornelius in 1839 is believed to be the first selfie in history. Cornelius had photographed himself in his lamp shop in Philadelphia.
The selfie technique, which has been carried from that year to the present, has become one of the most popular photographing methods today. But why has it become such a trend? Did it become famous after a few photos of celebrities as a group, or was it deliberately used to enrich the databases of tech companies' facial recognition and artificial intelligence systems? Second question is quite intriguing, but we do not know if it was. Only we know is it is a way of expressing ourselves in new way in photos from a mood to using social awareness of things.
